Everywhere else on this site, a claim is either documented, a community tradition, or flagged as not yet known — see About for what that means. This page holds a fourth kind of thing: a personal account, told in someone’s own words.

A grandparent’s crossing. A clan-house memory. The first time someone found their surname in a register and felt, for a moment, less alone. These stories are not fact-checked the way the rest of the site is — they are memory, offered as memory, and published only with the storyteller’s permission.

Please note. Stories here are personal accounts, not verified history. Where a detail in a story touches something documented elsewhere on the site — a date, a place, an association — we may note it, but we do not edit someone's memory to fit the record. If the two disagree, both are shown, honestly.

How to read a story

Each story is credited to its author (or published anonymously, if they preferred), dated to when it was shared, and kept in the language it was written in — we do not translate or rewrite someone’s voice. Where relevant, a story links back to the pillar or clan-house page it touches, so you can read the personal account alongside the sourced history.

  3. We'll confirm with you before anything is published, lightly edit only for readability, and never add or alter a fact within your account.
